Edremit Vocational School of Higher Education, Department of Electronics and Automation, is an academic unit with a strong academic infrastructure that embraces the vision of Industry 4.0 and digital transformation. Our department aims to train equipped technical personnel who can respond to the current needs of the industry in electronic design, communication technologies, control, and automation systems. Educational activities are carried out with an application-oriented and innovative approach that is suitable for sectoral expectations.
Mission The primary mission of our department is to train qualified technical personnel who can recognize, analyze, design, and apply industrial systems involving electrical, analog/digital electronics, microcontroller, and automation components. It is aimed that our students effectively use programmable logic controllers (PLCs), robotic systems, sensors, and industrial communication technologies; successfully manage maintenance, repair, and system integration processes; and act consciously and responsibly in line with occupational health and safety principles.
Vision The vision of the department is to raise individuals who have a solid command of mathematics, science, and engineering fundamentals and can effectively follow current technologies in industrial automation and control systems. Our program aims to enable students to adapt to PLC, SCADA, robotic systems, and artificial intelligence-based automation solutions; recognize and manage cyber-physical production systems; and produce solutions to complex engineering problems with analytical thinking skills. It is aimed that our graduates exhibit technical competence to develop innovative and sustainable solutions, be prone to teamwork, and demonstrate effective communication skills in industrial organizations.
Admission and Registration Requirements Students are admitted to the program either through non-examination transfer from relevant vocational high school fields or by placement by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center) based on the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) score type within the scope of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) for high school graduates. Current quota and minimum score information are announced annually by ÖSYM in the "Guide for Higher Education Programs and Quotas."
Graduation Requirements To graduate, students must complete at least 120 ECTS credits, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00/4.00, and successfully complete the 15-week "Vocational Education in the Enterprise" application during the spring semester of the 2nd year.
Exams and Measurement-Evaluation Students are required to attend at least 70% of the courses to be eligible to take the final exam. For each course, at least one midterm exam and one final exam are administered. The success grade is calculated by taking 40% of the midterm exam and 60% of the final exam. A minimum of 50 points must be obtained from the final exam, and the semester average must be at least 45 points. Success grades are converted into letter grades; AA, BA, BB, CB, and CC are considered successful; DC and DD are considered conditionally successful; and FF is considered unsuccessful.
Career Opportunities Graduates of the Mechatronics Program have employment opportunities in many sectors thanks to the knowledge and skills they acquire for the integration of mechanical, electronic, software, and control systems. Graduates working with PLC, SCADA, robotic systems, and sensor technologies in the field of industrial production and automation can actively participate in electrical-electronic maintenance, mechanical system repair, and technical service in factories and facilities. Furthermore, they can be employed in technical sales, project management, and documentation areas, including product promotion, proposal preparation, and field applications.
Degree Awarded Students who graduate from the program are awarded an "Associate Degree Diploma" and the title of "Technician" according to their relevant field.
Horizontal Transfer Opportunities Students can transfer horizontally to other programs within Balıkesir Edremit Vocational School of Higher Education or to different higher education institutions. Students who wish to transfer with the central placement score must have YKS scores from the year they registered that are equal to or higher than the minimum score of the program they wish to transfer to.
Vertical Transfer Opportunities Program graduates can transfer to undergraduate programs such as Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering with the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) conducted by ÖSYM.
