Welcome
to the official website of the Mechatronics Program within the Department of
Electronics and Automation at Balıkesir University, Edremit Vocational School.
Mechatronics
is a highly comprehensive and interdisciplinary branch of science that is
fundamentally based on the expertise of machinery, electronics, software, and
control, emerging from the synergistic combination of these fields. In today's
world, where traditional engineering and technical branches are no longer
sufficient on their own, the discipline of mechatronics plays a central role in
the management and design of complex systems. From smart devices to advanced
robotic systems, and from the defense industry to biomedical applications, it
is possible to see the critical traces of mechatronics science in all processes
of a system, from the design stage to the final product. With developing
technology, the use of mechatronic systems in industrial and commercial
enterprises has started to increase every passing day; this situation has
turned mechatronics into a mandatory and indispensable field to meet the needs
of today's businesses.
At
the heart of our education and training philosophy lies the vision of raising
qualified professionals who can transform information into social and
industrial benefits, going beyond being an institution that merely transfers
theoretical knowledge. As the Mechatronics Program, we have set our primary
goal as training mechatronics intermediate workforce and technical personnel
equipped to meet the rapidly changing and evolving needs of the sector. In this
direction, with our expert and experienced academic staff, we transfer the
technical processes required for the production of machines, automation
systems, and robotic structures used in today's industrial and commercial
business areas to our students in the finest detail. Throughout our education
process, we aim to raise a qualified technical workforce in the subjects of
promotion, design, installation, use, maintenance, repair, and development of
these technological structures. Our student-oriented approach includes maximizing
the potential of each of our students and preparing them for life not only in a
professional sense but also as individuals who can think analytically and
possess ethical values.
One
of the strongest aspects of our program is that it has firmly established the
bridge between theoretical education and practice. We adopt an educational
model where knowledge does not just stay in books but comes to life in our
laboratories and application fields. Together with our advanced laboratory
facilities, we experience the happiness of preparing our students for the
future and witnessing their development. This process enables our graduates to
produce fast and effective solutions to the problems they encounter when they
step into the business world. Edremit’s strategic location and our close
relations with the industrial organizations in the region allow our students to
establish professional networks while still in the education stage and to
closely get to know the current dynamics of the sector.
Our
students who successfully complete their education and reach the graduation
stage are awarded an associate degree diploma and the title of
"Mechatronics Technician". Since mechatronics is at the center of
many sectors, especially automotive, defense industry, and biomedical
applications with many smart devices and robot systems, it provides a very wide
range of job opportunities for its graduates. Our graduates can work as
technical personnel in many enterprises and institutions related to
electrical-electronics in the private sector. They can take part as
sought-after personnel in areas where technology is used at the most advanced
level, such as control systems, robots, industrial automation, building
automation, household products, automotive, defense industry, medical
applications, aeronautical engineering, image and sound processing, production
lines, laser optical systems, and smart measurement devices. This wide range is
a testament to the fact that the field of mechatronics is one of the most
popular and guaranteed professions of today and the future.
Dear
young people, the world of mechatronics is an endless field of discovery, and
we are here to guide you on this journey. I congratulate all our students who
have newly joined and will join us, and I wish them outstanding success in
their education and training lives. I fully believe that when your
determination and our academic knowledge combine, we will achieve successes
that will make great contributions to the technological development of our
country. I look forward to the days when we will have the opportunity to meet
our esteemed prospective students face-to-face, and I hope that each of you
will have a bright future shaped by technology. As the Edremit Vocational
School Mechatronics Program family, we are ready to build the future together
in the light of knowledge.
Sincerely,
Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali IŞIKTAŞ Head
of the Department of Electronics and Automation
